MY PICK OF THE WEEK

Nasi Padang (Mixed Rice)

Stall :Nasi Padang ( Price : $3.00 )
Description : Mixed rice topped with chicken curry, chilli and hot dogs.
Canteen: Short Circuit (Engineering School)
Rating : 7 out of 10

Even though this might not be the best Nasi Padang stall in TP, the aunties mending it are definitely one of the friendliest. If you had read my earlier posts, the highlight of this stall is its fish and chips which are available only on Wednesdays. However, there are also other dishes that I wish to highlight. This stall definitely sells one of the most wicked tofu cooked with chilli(a.k.a sambal) that I have ever tasted. It also has a wide range of food to choose from such as fried noodle, kuay teow and also Chicken Cutlet Rice.

MY PICK OF THE WEEK

Nasi Padang (Mixed Rice)

Stall :Nasi Padang ( Price : $3.00 )
Description : Mixed rice topped with tofu, beef rendang and potato
Canteen: Flavours IT School
Rating : 8 out of 10

I can admit that this stall is the best Nasi Padang stall that TP has to offer. The best dish on its menu is its beef rendang. If you are wondering, rendang is a type of malay dish made with coconut milk. The taste of the beef rendang from this stall is fantastic. The thickness of the gravy as well as the amount of spiciness is just nice. On top of that, the beef is well cooked and juicy on the inside. There are also numerous other menus on display. My recommendations are Lemon Chicken, stir fried eggs with potatoes as well as the sweet and sour fish.

My Pick of the Week

MY PICK OF THE WEEK

Briyani Rice

Stall:Indian Muslim Food ( Price : $2.50 )
Description : Coloured rice topped with curry chicken or curry beef

Canteen: Mensa
Rating: 8 out of 10

The first thing that comes storming through my mind when I bought this food was how could a plate of food this much be so cheap. And the best part is it tastes good. The colored rice is soft and delicious. The amount of oil on it is just right. I chose chiken curry for my dish. The chicken curry tastes fine but could be better if it was a little more spicy. But in all, the factor that gave this food a rating of 8 is its enormous amount.

MY PICK OF THE WEEK( die, die must try. never try don't die. )

Fish and Chips

Canteen :Short Circuit
Stall :Indian-Muslim Food/Nasi Padang ( Price : $3.00)
Description : Fried Boneless Fish with Fries.
Rating : 10 out of 10

Excellent, Fantastic, Marvellous, etc. Even these words are not enough to describe it. This is the BEST Fish and Chips in the whole of Temasek Polytechnic. The fish and chips is always served warm. Since fries are common, I shall not talk about it. The main cast in the plate is the fish. There is nothing to describe the joy and happiness when I took the first bite. The fish is VERY crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. Even my friends who were eating it on that day gave a 10 for rating (5 people gave a 10/10 rating!!! OMG). However, it is only available on Wednesdays. Still, it is a die die must try..

Short Circuit(Engineering School)
This is the other of the 2 canteens in school of Engineering. Unlike IT school, it has no air-con and unlike Mensa, it is not double storey..Sad Canteen..

Curry Cutlet Rice

Stall :Carona ( Price : $3.30 )
Description : Chicken rice drenched in curry sauce.
Rating : 9 out of 10

The curry cutlet rice from this stall is good. One of my friend even eats it nearly everyday. Even though the curry looks watery and tasteless, it taste way better then it looks. The curry sauce is spicy and not too thick or thin. Topping that up is the chicken that is crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The only downside is that many students have complained seeing insects in their food...Yuckzzz

Fish and Chips with rice

Stall :Western Food ( Price : $3.50 )
Description : Fried boneless fish with Black Pepper Rice.
Rating : 8 out of 10

If you have to been to Short Circuit before, this is the stall that will usually have the longest queue. The "cook-on-the-spot" food ensures food is warm and fresh. At a price of $3.50, the Fish and Chips is quite a bargain. A look at the quantity of food given can easily make your eyes glitter with joy. The fish and chips is very crispy. However, there are occasional uncooked parts that some might find disturbing. The salad is fresh and crunchy. On the other hand, the rice with black pepper sauce is tasty and not too spicy. One thing is for sure, it would be better if they could have varying types of rice.

MY PICK OF THE WEEK( die, die must try. never try don't die. )

Chappati

Canteen :Mensa
Stall :Indian-Muslim Food ( Price : $1.50 )
Description : "Indian style" thin dough bread with curry or keema.
Rating : 10 out of 10

WTF!!!(Wow, Truly Fantastic). Not only is this the only stall selling chappati in TP, it is one of the best chappati I have ever tasted in my life. Not only the bread is thin, it is soft and light. This is unlike most outside stalls that sells hard and thick chappati. The chappati can be either eaten with curry or keema. If you are wondering, keema tastes like curry but is hotter and full of minced meat and taste way better than curry. And to prove its super-licious taste, the chappati will CONFIRM be sold out before noon. So the only way to taste this 'WTF'(Wow, Truly Fantastic) food is to come to school early. ++ Sure no regrets ah...++

Flavours Canteen(IT & APPLIED SCIENCE SCHOOL)
Does anyone wonder why this is the only air-conditioned canteen in Temasek Poly?(UNFAIR!!). Some say that the stalls in this canteen is quite expensive. Anyways, this is my one of my favorite canteen.

Grilled Chicken Rice

Stall :Chicken Rice ( Price : $3.00 )
Description : Rice boiled in chicken broth topped with grilled chicken.
Rating : 9 out of 10

What do you expect from a good chicken rice? If you are a chicken rice lover (like me), you will know that a good chicken rice consists of juicy and tender chicken, soft rice bursting with the and most importantly hot garlic chilli. This stall fufills all that criteria. And even better, there are a range of chicken such as steamed and honey glazed. The only factor that did not give the chicken rice a full rating is the small amount of chicken.

Yong Tau Foo

Stall :Yong Tau Foo ( Price : $3.00 )
Description : Bee Hoon in soup topped with fishcake, seaweed and tau pok.
Rating : 9 out of 10

Excellent. I have to admit, at first when I bought it, it does look ordinary. But hey, you can never judge a book by its cover. Not for this stall for sure. The soup is sweet and is not oily. The fragrance alone can make a true yong tau foo lover go wild. Bee hoon is springy and spongy. And for a price of $3.00, it is a real bargain. Definitely a must try.
